El Oceano Restaurant & Spa Hotel, Marbella | travel

When it comes to ocean side dining there really is no comparison to El Oceano in my opinion. One of Marbella's most sort after destinations positioned on it's own personal bit of coast line this restaurant and spa hotel is a must see on your visit to the Costa Del Sol. The hotel has been round forever and passed down through a family has retained it's very good reputation for decades now, but the most recent generation have some in and taken El Oceano to a new level.

The unassuming drive up to El Oceano could mean that many people miss it, but luckily with it's reputation it is not often quite, the white washed buildings just off the main road connecting Marbella and it's surrounding towns you arrive. Through the eclectic traditional Spanish decor of the main hotel entrance you walk through to the open restaurant to enjoy the sun, views and waves. The entire front side of the restaurant if open ensuring every seat has the best view over the Mediterranean Sea and just enough breeze to keep you cool. The restaurant leads out on to a patio in front of the main hotel which eventually leads on to the hotel's sun deck and pool areas meaning it is an absolute sun trap and the perfect place to enjoy a drink and top up your tan after your meal.

In front of the patio, just before the sand and sea there is a recent addition which makes it even better. An ocean front walk way that link the whole coastline to Marbella and beyond meaning you can enjoy a nice walk in the sun to walk off all of the lovely food you will just have enjoyed.

The menu is varied without being over whelming, you can chose from something traditional, something simple or something a little more adventurous but can always expect that it will be done to the highest quality. On this visit I went for the Stilton and Glazed Leek Tart to start, it was delicious, its hard to say exactly what it is about the food that makes it so good but everything is guaranteed to be good, even when you're not sure what to expect. I then chose to keep it simple with 'Fish'n'Chips' for my main course, but with fresh fish and a view even that is something special.

I know I am just raving about El Oceano, but it really is one of my favourite places to enjoy a morning, afternoon or evening and a trip to the Costa Del Sol would not be complete without a visit.

Tips.
+ Book to avoid disappointment.
+ The staff are really helpful, don't be afraid to ask for recommendations.
+ Avoid temptation to sit on the patio, do that after and enjoy your food in the shelter of the open front restaurant, the views are just as good.
+ Go for something you wouldn't normally try, it will be good, I guarantee.

Do you have a restaurant you can't help but visit every time you're in a place? Do you have any recommendations for places in Marbella?

Until next time,

Love&Kisses,

Mel
