Fig Tree Café, A Review | travel

In my post all about Venice Beach I mentioned that the Lonely Planet guided walks suggest stops along the way and one of those on our walk was Fig Tree Café. A cute spot right on Ocean Walk just before Rose Ave serving breakfast, lunch and dinner full of perfect beach side food such as, club sandwiches, salads and burgers.

After seeing an open table right next to the glass framing ocean views, we jumped on it after a beautiful, but tiring 4 hour walk in the sun. I can't speak for the inside because we never ventured in, but the outside is beautiful, after all if you're eating at the beach who wants to be inside? If you're not in the mood for food, it makes a great spot for an ice cold refresher too, when you've explored all day you can treat yourself to a Coke right?

We asked the waiter for a recommendation on what to get as that's always good to do at a new place I think, especially in places like the US where it's pretty common for the servers to really know the menu well. I went for a club sandwich and it was so good, I can't think of many better things that good company, delicious comfort food, the ocean and sunshine, oh and the Coke of course. Although it was more that filling enough, we couldn't peel ourselves away from the prime spot quite yet and of course, when a chocolate brownie is on the menu how could we resist. It actually ended up in a to go box but it was worth it.

I would definitely recommend this little spot as part of your exploration of Venice Beach, if it's busy it might be worth telling someone you're waiting and wondering around a few of the nearby street stall while you wait because it really is a unique venue on this stretch of beach.

What's your favourite food for the beach? Have you even been to Venice and found any other great spots?

Until next time,

  1. If you're still in town try Zelda's for lunch!

    1. Thanks so much for the recommendation! I'll be back in Venice soon I'm sure so will have to check it out,

      Thanks for reading,
