Met Gala 2014 Roundup | fashion

I wasn't going to post today, but Monday nights Met Gala in New York City saw some of the best and worst fashion appearances of 2014 so far. To be completely honest, Monday's red carpet offerings got me more excited than this years entire award season and it seems social media agreed.

Before the carpet even opened twitter and instagram were littered with snaps of various celebrities prepping for the big night and although the met has always delivered some iconic looks the buzz this year just seemed bigger.

Here is a run down of my best and worst looks of the Met Gala 2014:

*Selena Gomez -
DVF w/ Lorraine Schwartz Jewellery

*Blake Lively -

*Anna Kendrick -
J. Mendel

 *Leighton Meester -
Emilio Pucci

*Georgia May Jagger -
Mulger by David Koma

I'm normally a butt kind of girl but the shape of the night, for me anyway, was hourglass. All of these ladies let their curves do the talking and kept everything else pretty simple and it really paid off. They all chose flattering colours and structure for their skin tone and frame meaning they look classy and dressy without having to go over the top.

5 Worst:

*Adrianna Lima -
Givenchy Haute Couture

*Kate Upton -
Dolce & Gabbana

*Katie Holmes -

*Solange Knowles -
Philip Lim

*Alexa Chung -
Nina Ricci

I am all for being risky with fashion but these ladies seemed to go too far or just chose a look completely wrong for them, in my humble opinion. Adrianna Lima is one of the most beautiful women on earth and she was made to look glum and stuffed in, in this gown. Solange, Katie and Kate took risks that went against them, the shapes are all horrendous on them and dwarf their shapes making them look bigger than they are. Finally, I felt like Alexa's Nina Ricci gown looked like a home altered bridesmaid dress, it was all about the material and colour.

Special Mention:

Oscar De La Renta

*Taylor Swift -
Oscar De La Renta

I felt that SJP and Taylor Swift were the perfect mix of class and OTT. Oscar De La Renta does dramatic ball gown like no other and these two were the perfect models.

Best Dressed Couples:

*The Reynolds -
Both in Gucci

*The Carters -
Him, Tom Ford - Her, Givenchy

Until next time,
